Converting a Malaysian driver licence in Western Australia
Malaysia is listed as a non-recognised country, so you will need to pass a theory test and a practical driving assessment.
Australian citizens and permanent residents can drive on an overseas licence for up to 3 months, and must apply to transfer within that time.
WA accepts English translations from NAATI certified translators (not Recognised Practising) and some other approved translators, but not NAATI "accredited" translations dated after 1 January 2018. No translation is needed if your licence is in English as well as Malay. Our translations are done by NAATI certified translators.

Malaysian documents for Western Australia agencies
Births, deaths, marriages and name changes in Western Australia are registered by the Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages (WA Department of Justice). If you are giving them a Malaysian birth or marriage certificate - for a name change, for example - we translate it into English. The same certified translations are used for visa and citizenship applications with the Department of Home Affairs, and for Australian passport applications.
The Consulate General of Malaysia is in Perth, at 252 Adelaide Terrace (Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs). Greater Perth is the only Australian capital where Malaysia is among the five most common countries of birth.
