Converting a Malaysian driver licence in Tasmania
Malaysia is not on the Tasmanian recognised-country list, so you will need a knowledge test, an online Hazard Perception Test and a driving assessment.
An overseas licence can be used only until six months after your permanent visa is issued.
Tasmania asks for an international driving permit or an English translation "by a person accredited to translate" if your licence is not in English. Ask Service Tasmania if you are unsure which translations it accepts.

Malaysian documents for Tasmania agencies
Births, deaths, marriages and name changes in Tasmania are registered by Births, Deaths and Marriages Tasmania (Department of Justice). If you are giving them a Malaysian birth or marriage certificate - for a name change, for example - we translate it into English. The same certified translations are used for visa and citizenship applications with the Department of Home Affairs, and for Australian passport applications.
